Falls Church, VA November 22, 2013 – Geocent awarded Zephyr Technology Group (ZTG) a subcontract to help provide Geospatial Technical Support Services (GTSS) to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. The resulting prime contract is a BPA valued at $98 million and covers information technology support to geospatial programs across the DHS.
ZTG has experience developing open architect, platform independent technology and application solutions and will leverage these open-source “as a service” capabilities for Geocent and their customer in creating core components of a Common Operating Picture (COP).
Through this agreement, DHS procures geospatial technology services to: produce maps of natural hazards such as floodplains; assess critical infrastructure risk and vulnerabilities; track and monitor law enforcement activities and support reconnaissance operations; conduct urban search and rescue operations to recover survivors affected by disasters; plan security operations for special events; and facilitate vessel and cargo tracking and inspection.
Under the terms of this BPA, potentially through September 2018, Geocent and its team may be called upon to provide “comprehensive geospatial enterprise technical support services” to the DHS including:
- Program and project management
- Technical planning
- Engineering and implementation
- Analytics and processing
- Enterprise and technical architecture
- Data processing and management
- Operations and maintenance
“ZTG is proud to be a member of the Geocent team and to offer our ‘application as a service’ approaches to critical geospatial efforts,” said Adam Wieder, Executive Vice President. “As a small business offering Software as a Service (SaaS) and Software Defined Networking (SDN) solutions and integration of large, complex software and network implementations, we bring consummate experience and skills that will help Geocent succeed across a broad spectrum of technical requirements.”
